Dr. Kihtir : For The Hip The Silicon Jell Prosthesis Is The Only Remedy

There exist several materials other than silicon but generally these are used in more small operations such as in the elimination of wrinkles, for the face bones to come to a more clear position. For the hip larger prostheses are required, the ideal material for the large scale operation is not yet ready. Because it is required that the properties of the augmentation material should be unharmful, .should be long enduring and the results can be predictable safely long before.

The silicon prostheses are of two types : one is the jelly silicon and is used in sheath. It is applied to soft places, regions like the breast. But here complication risk increases if the silicon leaks as a result of pressure or because of the formation of a capsule. Complications like ache, capsule formation and asymmetry may form. Other silicon prostheses otherwise are of tough consistency. These are not used where softness is required. For the hips in general soft prosthesis with silicon jelly is preferred.

For the fixing of these prostheses in place the patient can participate in physical activities in limit for 6-8 weeks. For the prosthesis not to move from place bandages are used. In this period if sit and stood up roughly the silicon has the risk of bursting.
